Coffin Bay is an isolated Eyre Peninsula holiday destination 710 km west of Adelaide. The original small settlement was called Oyster Town (1840s) due to the vast supplies in the area which were quickly exhausted. Explorer Matthew Flinders' name, for his friend, Isaac Coffin, was then adopted. Today fishing, cultivated oysters and tourism sustain the town's economy.
