Elliston is a lovely Eyre Peninsula holiday town surrounded by rolling hills and a striking coastline. It is located 695 km n-w of Adelaide, has excellent swimming & fishing beaches and was named after an early writer, Ellen Liston - Ellie's Town in 1878. Abalone diving in 1960s only lasted a short time before supplies were depleted. Tourism and fishing sustain the township today. Sculptures on the Cliff (odd numbered years Mar-May), Australian Salmon Fishing Competition (June-Aug).
