The lyric Banalata Sen is the most representative of the essence of Jibanananda’s poetry and exemplifies his use of imagery. Banalata is a feminine name in the Bengali language that would have been fashionable in the Bengali middle class Bhadralok community pkem Jibanananda’s parents’ generation.
